Licensing Information for Saskatchewan
In Canada Emergency Health Services are regulated on a provincial or territorial basis and in most area’s you need to be licensed in order to practice i.e. before you can respond to a patient in a paid capacity.
In Saskatchewan the regulatory and licensing authority is the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP).
The Saskatchewan College recognises and licenses the following grades of practitioner:
- Emergency Medical Responder
- Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B)
- Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (EMT-P)

Licensing Exams
Jurisprudence Declaration
You must complete and sign a declaration stating that you are familiar with and will abide by the terms of all applicable laws. This must be witnessed by someone not related to or living with you.
Licensing Exams
As of April 1st SCoP has adopted a written exam for EMR, this will be 2 ½ hrs. EMR written exams are held Bi-Monthly in Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert.
EMT & EMT – P
As of April 2nd SCoP has adopted the new national licensing exam, this is a computer based examination and the planned first offering of this examination is June 27th in both Regina and Saskatoon
